After announcing the record breaking transfer bid of £80 million for Cristiano Ronaldo last week, Real Madrid quickly put a buy-out clause of almost £170 millionin his contract. Wow! Which club would have the money to spend on him? Many think that this would be a waste of money. And the sum can be spent on many players, which would be more than enough to build another 'Galacticos'.
I would say that Real Madrid is not only a football club. It's a trading centre too. They spend on a superstar with a dollar, and will be able to generate a double return.
